THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
(SHRI V. MURALEEDHARAN)

(a) & (b) The posts of Defence Attaches in various Indian Missions abroad are all filled in time by officers of the Ministry of Defence. Vacancies, if any, only occur temporarily during the changeover of officers upon completion of their tenures.

There are 7 sanctioned posts of Official Language Officers in various Embassies abroad in Port of Spain, Port Louis, Suva, London, Kathmandu, Durban and Paramaribo. Of the 7 sanctioned posts of Official Language Officers in Indian Missions abroad, the posts at Suva and London are currently vacant and the process of appointment, including consultations with UPSC, is underway for early filling up of the posts.
