INDO PACIFIC VISION


1435. SHRI S. JAGATHRAKSHAKAN

Will the Minister of External Affairs be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has taken any initiative(s) to pitch for countries like Indonesia and Singapore to be invited to join in the future keeping in view the fact that India has many other partners in the Indo-Pacific and there is also a vital need to economically expand the Quad and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Quad nations need to better explain the Indo-Pacific Vision in an overarching framework with the objective of advancing everyone's economic and security interests; and

(c) if so, the details thereof and measures taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) No.

(b) & (c) India envisages Indo-Pacific as a free, open, inclusive, peaceful and prosperous region built on rules-based international order, with respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, freedom of navigation and over-flight, unimpeded lawful commerce, peaceful resolution of disputes, as well as equality of all nations. India looks forward to productive collaboration with the countries in the region and beyond to ensure Security and Growth for all in the Region. The Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiatives (IPOI) was announced by Prime Minister at the 14th East Asia Summit in 2019 as an inclusive concept with a view to promote practical cooperation among the countries for the peace and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific.
